He's supposed to have been one of the nice guys in the music business; not overcrowded with those.

Very sad.

And I see as well that Ben E King passed away a few weeks ago. I hadn't realised!

Different genres, but both great artists and performers.

good song. I have this song (tears, tears, tears) as a single, same label as on this music video. Darn that was a long time ago when I bought it. I always thought it should have been more popular than it was.

Seems he cheated them in his will, so they cooked up possible murder supposition, probably so they could challenge the will which left them each $5K. I lose respect for people who do that to their children, especially if they suffered along with them through those early years of little to nothing. Maybe we should have a legal requirement which mandates a certain amount to children or their heirs if the child has died previous. It would be hard to meet the commandment to "honor your father and mother" after death when they backstab you like that. Still, it seems he set up an education fund that might be for the grandchildren and/or great grandchildren. The lawyer only gets regular executor fees, not part of the will herself.

"Three doctors determined that King was appropriately cared-for, and King received 24-hour care and monitoring by medical professionals "up until the time that he peacefully passed away in his sleep," attorney Brent Bryson told the AP on Monday.

Daughters Karen Williams and Patty King allege that family members were prevented from visiting while King's business manager, LaVerne Toney, and his personal assistant, Myron Johnson, hastened their father's death.

Toney is named in King's will as executor of an estate that, according to court documents filed by lawyers for some of King's heirs, could total tens of millions of dollars."

" Relatives making “ridiculous” claims that B.B. King was murdered are probably upset they’re only getting four-figure payments under his will, the blues legend’s lawyer said Tuesday.

“My guess is the children and grandchildren don’t like the fact he’s leaving them $3,000 and $5,000 each and then leaving the rest to his lineage for education,” lawyer Brent Bryson told the Daily News. “B.B. did not have a very high formal education, and he wanted to have his lineage go to college, so he set up a trust that would pay for college and other expenses.” Bryson declined to give a valuation for King’s estate. “There are millions, but not the 20 or 30 million that’s been reported,” he said."

relatives. That amount is supposed to preclude such actions. If that's true then $3000 is gravy.
