To answer your additional questions, though, you can report the product key as stolen, though what would be done, if anything, is debatable depending on if you had registered the copy of Windows. (They'll likely want to verify you are the owner before disabling the key...such could be abused.) Also, if that was a manufacturer's installation there may be no point, since now manufacturers are using a volume key and removing the activation process by simply verifying the hardware's authenticity. Thus, the matter may be a moot point. In short, I wouldn't hold out too much hope of support from Microsoft on this matter.

Sorry, same guy who had his XP Pro tower PC stolen back again. Also, if the thief, or whoever, ever tries to update that software to Vista, can they be tracked and id'ed by MS, especially if they aren't too savy? When I do finally get help with MS, will they be able to block my software serial number and the product key? Will they care? Again, thanks for any input or extra advice, I am on the inside looking out, I need some outside looking in eyes to lay some voodoo on me now. I want all the extra info and advice I can get before I talk to MS to make sure I don't get the run around. I don't want to waste much more time on this before moving on. Thanks.
