Not exactly.....

Calling it an explosion is an exaggeration. It points to a defective batteries in a few isolated cases and not a rampant defect. There have been millions of similar phones sold and not a chronic issue reported by many victims. I have no problem holding the manufacturer to blame but let's not assume this is a rampant issue.

Exploding phones

We also don't know how the phone was treated and if there were any extreme exposures (temps, etc). I would think if there a large range problem, you would have more incidents.

Really?

The battery must be damaged so I suppose they didn't treat them right.

Must have other factors

What has the guy been doing the whole time his pocket was melting? IF my pocket was melting, I am sure that it would have been warm/hot. He must have felt something abnormal. Seems like the guy has been waiting for the phone to blow up.

He was probably listening to music. One would think they would know if they were on fire.

The article said he bend over to pick up some keys and it popped. one thing - as far as waiting for the phone to blow up - If I were going to wait, hoping the phone would explode so I could sue, it sure would not be in a pocket close to the family jewels.
