We were also warned.....

In my state. we get new plates every few years. Each year we get decal updates.

We were warned not to apply the decal updates too soon before expiration as thieves wold steal the plates to avoid buying updates themselves.

They also steal plates to replace the ones on cars they steal, to change them on their own vehicles when up to mischief, etc.

At least count, my state has at least 90 "specialty" license plates. Law enforcement people say it makes t more difficult to spot violations n the fly.

Especially check for the front plate.

I had my front Texas license plate stolen a few years ago, and in reporting it to the police, they said it is very common for thieves to steal the front plate as it is not noticed by the owners that often. Said the front plate is then used to help transport stolen cars to Mexico.
