Question

Another backup question for 3GS 4.3.5 to PC

Jun 20, 2012 5:24PM PDT

I just did a backup of iPhone......it only took 3 seconds for the iTunes status bar to finish. My last backup was 10 months ago at which time the backup file on my PC was 64MB with 459 files. The new backup file on PC is 37 MB with 349 files. It just doesn't feel right as I have more photos now than I did on the older backup.

I deleted the new backup and repeated with the same results. The first attempt, I left the iphone connected a long time and the second I disconnected when the status bar was through -- both came out with 37 MB.

Answer
Photo's are not part of the backup

Those are backed up by you on your computer and go on, and off, the iPhone via the Sync.

I do not sync photos with my computer

Although I have all the photos on my iPhone on my computer, as well as on three other drives, I do not sync them with my computer.as they are a select group. The same is true for my iPhone calendar and contacts.

However, that does not explain why yesterday's backup was so much smaller at 37 MB than the older ones at 64 MB.

Really cannot explain why there was a difference in size.

We know it's not the photo's though.

Less music?
Fewer Apps?

Then accept the fact that your iPhone backup

is 37MB and move on.
