annoying sound

by patperry / August 4, 2006 1:05 AM PDT

I'm using a PowerBookG4. OS X, Version 10.3.9

I get this annoying sound when I'm on the pogo.com website playing games. All the normal game sounds are fine and then all of a sudden I get this "pinging-dinging" type sound. It doesn't stop. I have to mute the sound on my laptop.

Do I have some kind of alarm set that I'm not aware of? It'll only stop when I shut down Safari.

I'm a realively new Mac user, a little over a year, I love my mac, and this is the only annoying problem I've found.

Please help.

How about this?

1. don't play games at Pogo.com!

Ok, not a solution. Could it be that you are resting something on the keyboard and you are getting the "repetitive key" alarm?

Does the sound go away when you got to another site, away from pogo.com?

I get the picture, I know this may sound trivia to the "experts", however having to mute my computer to do something is a drag! I guess, I'll just have to live with this.

So much for being a new mac user and getting help here !

Sometimes it takes a few days or weeks to find it, but if you give up...

This is an all volunteer forum. No one's paid and we help each other as much as we can.

Hopefully someone will know why this is happening to you.

Have you tried a Genius Bar?

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
