Annoying Solicitation (Spyware?)

I have a Dell 3000 using windows xp. When I connect to internet I get a solicitation from I can only close by going to task manager and finding "notifier.exe" (application) on the list and selecting End Now. I did a file search and found it, but can't delete it because "it is being used by another program" How can I stop this beast? Thanks for any forthcoming advise.

Have you tried a spyware program? Ad-aware is a good one and it's free and very easy to use.

Does the second link you provided work for you?

Yes it does TOM,

In reply to: Rick

it's to Wayne's definitions of spyware programs.

Go here

and then click on

Anti-Spyware Suite

and it should be the URL listed. Works with Mozilla Firefox.

Neither the 2ND in 1ST Post Nor the Work....

In reply to: Yes it does TOM,

for me on Mozilla Sea Monkey when clicking your links here. Tried both 2 times and got "request interrupted during negotiating" message.
Strangely enough, if I copy and open a second Sea Monkey
and paste it into the address bar and click "GO", I get Coryphaeus's site with no problem.
Further, if I minimize the 1st Sea Monkey browser (one with interruption message) open a 2nd SM Browser, click to your post, clicking on your links in this same post, both work just fine. Weird! Grin
