Annoying Problem with My Computer

by seige_runner / November 22, 2005 8:01 AM PST

Whenever I open up My Computer, a flashlight appears and stays there. I've tried stopping the WIA services, but that doesn't work. Alos, when I try to save something in another folder, the list on choosing where to save it hangs. Don't know if these two problems are related, but can anyone shed some light on this problem?

Runner, More Information Please
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / November 22, 2005 8:40 AM PST

Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible about your computer. Depending on your issue, we might need the operating system, processor speed, amount of RAM installed, brand name of the computer, (if there is one), and any EXACT error messages you are receiving, and in your case, what have you tried to fix the issue? The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.

What have you done to check for Spyware/viruses?

What have you done to eliminate unnecessary start up programs/services and clean out the junk files from the computer?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

No error messages, I check for Spyware and Viruses weekly. I wen ton Widows help and all they said to do was take off the WIA feature, which I did and to no avail. I also run Defrag and Disk clean up very often. I have a Dell running on Windows XP. I have no idea what the RAM of this computer is. Hope this is enough info.
