Since I use the free, alternative browser Firefox, I simply downloaded the extensions Adblock Plus and Flashblock. Adblock adds the option to right-click just about any image or advertisement and block it while Flashblock will replace the Flash object with the Flashblock icon, preventing it from loading until you click it. This gives me complete control over the media content that's displayed on websites.
Hope this helps,
John
There seems to be an increasing amount of intrusive flash adverts appearing on our screens and unfortunately in our ears as well. I have noticed an increasing number of adverts are using attention grabbing tactics with annoying repetive sounds.
I would prefer that the sound would not occur without my permission or that I should have the option to mute it at least, but on right mouse clicking into the options there does not seem to be much user choice.
Is there a way to stop these adverts yelling out or buzzing in the middle of my songs when listening to a webcast while browsing the web without disabling flash from my browsing experience completely?
I have attempted repeatedly to contact adobe over this to find that I must sign up only to be greeted by non responsive submission pages. A nice way to avoid email complaints I think.
Thanks.
