Annoying browser dropouts

Jul 28, 2004 5:39PM PDT

I'm using IE 6 with high speed connection running win ME. The problem is every so often it seems as though I
lose connection for a minute,i.e page stops loading
but i am still able to chat on msn and download using a p2p program(not kazaa)without interuption.
This happens every few minutes and its driving me mad, my ISP sais itsnot an issue on their end so it must be with my pc. i've run adaware and virus scan and the problem persisits. any suggestions???

IMO, the stops loading would appear to me that activity of some sort is taking place at the moment and therefore circumventing what you expect to take place and it can't. Regardless of your statement that Kazaa isn't used but a P2P type is, leads me to believe the same process explained in my below scenario happens. What you do about it is your call.

In a nut shell, healthy computers owners are being betrayed simply because a Kazaa file-sharing network user can unknowingly spread infections wherever s/he goes.

1. ZDNet's article "Downloads are forever."

2. A Microsoft overview of "P2P" - Peer-to-Peer Networking Component program(s) and the "Support WebCast: Microsoft Windows Peer-to-Peer Platform."

3. A wormy story from "Symantec."

4. for further pleasurable reading (search for Kazaa on) at the "Adware, Spyware and other unwanted "malware" - and how to remove them" forum.
