What is with the Chinese? Can't they get it up without some sort of horn?

So you think it's ok to shoot a HUMAN
Apr 23, 2007 10:29AM PDT

to protect an animal?

- Collapse -
Why are you defending law breakers?
Apr 23, 2007 11:18AM PDT

It isn't like the poachers don't know what they are doing.

Simple way to protect yourself from getting shot... don't poach the protected animals.

How hard is that?

Not defending the criminals
Apr 24, 2007 7:33AM PDT

defending their rights. Glad you support summary executions. Hope a den of girl scouts don't wander in there by accident.

- Collapse -
i doubt that
Apr 24, 2007 7:44AM PDT

the scouts.girl/boy/ would get a merit badge for poaching, and if a poacher gets shot its all good

- Collapse -
LOL
Apr 24, 2007 11:12AM PDT

Girl Scouts carry guns??? Come on DM this is silly! Poachers are criminals!

- Collapse -
Read the story
Apr 24, 2007 7:22PM PDT

it said NOTHING about checking for guns (before shooting)

- Collapse -
So? BTW I did
Apr 25, 2007 2:03AM PDT

Poachers are there to kill, No other reason!

- Collapse -
(NT) How do you knwo they are a poacher?

It's a preserve for Rhinos
Apr 25, 2007 6:39AM PDT

What you think they are going in there to pet them??

- Collapse -
Also.........
Apr 25, 2007 6:41AM PDT

"A massive anti-poaching operation has been launched with orders issued to shoot-on-sight any unauthorised person inside Kaziranga's premises," Rockybul Hussain, northeastern Assam state's forest minister, told AFP in the reserve

Did you miss this?

- Collapse -
Yes. A poacher is like a crook breaking into your house...
Apr 23, 2007 12:21PM PDT

to steal your possessions and hurt or destroy your family. You have the right to shoot him dead, dead, dead.

- Collapse -
It's is an old tradition...
Apr 23, 2007 12:29PM PDT

the Royal Hunting Grounds and all the animals within, were considered the property of the king, so if you poached you could be executed forthwith. Doesn't have anything to do with animal rights. Animals do not have rights.

- Collapse -
Not exactly. It is simply the state protecting its interest,
Apr 23, 2007 10:12AM PDT

and enforcing its laws.

The same thing used to happen in the US when they caught a horse thief. It wasn't about the horse's rights.

- Collapse -
(NT) No, this is summary execution
Apr 23, 2007 10:31AM PDT

So was hanging from the nearest tree when caught on a stolen

(NT) Rather thought we have become more civilized since then.
Apr 24, 2007 7:34AM PDT
- Collapse -
You did?
Apr 24, 2007 10:47AM PDT

I don't. We just have a lot more people who need to ask for permission. I don't think that is more civilized.

- Collapse -
(NT) A stiff **** is a human right?
Apr 23, 2007 10:14AM PDT

Please don't let me think that
Apr 24, 2007 7:35AM PDT

you are one of the ignorant that thinks "it" works?

Killing for necessity is reasonable
Apr 23, 2007 10:20AM PDT

Food, hides...maybe special medicinal components. Killing for trophys, to be macho, or just for the H of it is not just a violation of the animal but a crime against the planet. Killing a rhino for it's horn so folks can increase what they think is their chance to score, is unthinkable. As well, an elephant is not just the provider of 4 umbrella stands. Good grief.

(NT) Of course........A duck would think like that ;)

No where in the story does it say anything about checking
Apr 24, 2007 7:36AM PDT

if the "poacher" has a gun.

RE: if the "poacher" has a gun.
Apr 24, 2007 11:50AM PDT

There's only a few of us that can bring down a Rhino by jumping on it's back and slitting it's throat.

- Collapse -
A big "DUH" for you
Apr 24, 2007 7:24PM PDT

How do they know if it is a poacher with or without a gun if they shoot before they check.

- Collapse -
It's a newspaper article
Apr 24, 2007 8:52PM PDT

Do you want them to post all the procedures that the Park Rangers in determining when to shoot?

They "Just know" they're up to no good.

Glad to see you've "come ashore" and are no longer concerned with the whales.

- Collapse -
