Apr 17, 2018 4:17PM PDT

I need to know if it is possible to connect a wireless headset the uses RCA Jacks to an Android box using a USB adapter set of RCA Jacks?

Thank you. I have another question
Apr 17, 2018 4:40PM PDT

I looked at the external sound cards and assume that with the card plugged in to the USB slot and the RCA Jacks plugged in to the sound card, this will (hopefully) allow my husband to hear the audio through his headset while I hear the sound through the TV. My husband is hard of hearing hence the need for headsets. I am a bit out of my depth here and appreciate you input.

I'm going to write DEAD END because of new information.

Since 99.99% of the setups will not send audio to both USB and HDMI this is a dead end.

Instead you need to look at the usual HDMI audio extractor (example to follow) then another cable to split the now analog audio off to the TV and your headphone system.

Remember folk, if you change the setup, my answer has to change to match.

Example extractor: https://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Extractor-Optical-Toslink-Converter/dp/B00KBHX072

Thanks again. New info raises more questions.

My apologies for not fully explaining my situation. Since I am out of my depth I'm not always sure of the right question. Here is my complete problem and perhaps you may have a better solution than the one I have been trying to cobble together in my ignorance. I have a LG Smart TV and could stream directly to my TV except for my husbands hearing issue. If I plug his headset directly into the TV I am unable to hear the TV. I am looking for a solution that will allow us to stream to our TV where my husband can listen to the TV via the headphones and I can listen via the TV speaker in a normal volume or mute the TV entirely if I want to sleep. We have been using a Roku box to stream USTVNow with my husbands headphones plugged into the Roku box. Since Roku no longer streams USTVNow I have been looking for another solution that will solve the above mentioned issue. I appreciate any insight and help you can offer.

Sorry but you have now removed the Android box?

And now use a PC. I don't see how the PC is connected to the TV but if by HDMI, the HDMI Audio Extractor is used along with some audio splitter cable to send audio on to the two places it needs to go.

Using a PC opens up another option.

Just set the PC to output on the PC speakers, plug in some headphone splitter cable then off to the TV and headphones.

All PCs I've used allow me to set the audio to either HDMI or PC speakers (which means I can plug into the headphone jack and run the audio where I desire.)

Good information! Thanks, Couple more questions.

I don't have an Android box yet. I was exploring that as an option but couldn't see how I could make it work with the headsets. Your PC solution might just be the answer. The PC would be connected via HDMI. Do you think the HDMI Audio Extractor with the audio splitter cable would work with an Android box? Or, if I stream direct to my Smart TV is there a way to split the audio from the TV to external speakers and the headset similar to the set up you described with the PC. I truly appreciate all of your help and input.

The HDMI Audio Extractor
Apr 19, 2018 2:27PM PDT

Does not care if the source is a PC, Android or something else. It does what it does. HDMI is a solid standard but here's my thought. Not everyone knows all these devices or tricks. That's why I have to keep up with this area by reading what others suggest as well as what I've used over the years.

As to your "if I stream direct to my Smart TV" since I have no detail how the content made it to the TV, I can't answer this one.

would be via Wi-Fi since my Smart TV would be acting like a computer.

Since this is unknown along with the TV.

I can't tell which system would be in play here. You can test it to see if your PC and keep the audio on PC speakers which could be sent to the headphone jack and then to splitter as you wish.

Without the full TV model number I can't check out possible audio solutions that involve the TV's audio system.

Model 59LF6100UA
Serial Number 508RMWV9X585
ESN LGTV20143=31007298511

These are all the numbers I could come up with. If you can tell me what to search for I don't mind doing the work. I just don't have the knowledge you do so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Once again, thanks for your help.

http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-50LF6100-smart-led-tv looks close enough.

The only audio output is "Digital Audio Out (Optical)" so this means to support headphones you run that to the usual optical to analog convertor. These are a little hard on folk to setup. That is, not only do you get to setup the TV to output on the optical (which disables the speakers) you may have to set the TV and sources to only use Stereo or PCM.

Example convertor at Amazon: There are many, I will not test or pick the winner. https://smile.amazon.com/PROZOR-Digital-Converter-Toslink-Adapter/dp/B00KNNSKV0/

The output from this goes the the usual splitter and then to the headphones and for your own speaker output any number of soundbars or speakers.

As usual volume control is now at the headphone and speakers.

That seems doable.

My apologies for my typo. The 9 was supposed to be a 0! Plain I have a friend here who will probably be able to help walk me through the setup you have described. I appreciate your help more than I can express.
