Question

Android tablet with 2 USB or 1 USB plus charge connector

Mar 24, 2015 4:00AM PDT

I need an Android tablet, preferably 7 inch, that can operate 24/7 while accepting data via USB. I think this means that the charge port must be separate from the USB. Can anyone help?

Answer
Something close.

My Asus Transformer looks very close. Except it's 10 inch. At least it's a start.

Why Android? In the past I used netbooks for data collection tasks.

Ap is B4A

Thanks for your suggestions. Android because the data display ap is written in B4A. The Asus Transformer has a keypad(?) (not needed) and is quite expensive

You can get it without the keypad.

As to expense, that's why I used a netbook. We pick them up for under 200 here.

you can charge and send/receive data at the same time using just one cable while using the computer's usb port.

From reading around I think the power connector will supply the peripheral, but not the tablet itself

I read the opposite.

It's 2 bucks to know for sure.

Let me share I've done data collectors for decades. I can't guess your situation but any box/thing under 200 is a bargain. Again, I can't guess why you went android over say a Rasberry Pi.

not what I was talking about

that was not what I was talking about. Most cables that comes with the tablets can do both at the same time so there is not a need for two cables or splitters

I think they are doing some data collector device/thing

With those setups you need 24x7 operation, power and such. I'm getting the feeling they are new to this work. That is they can't try the usual or even spend 2 bucks.
