Question

Android Studio Hang-up

Jul 10, 2019 4:56AM PDT

Hello, I just wanted to ask If 6 gb ddr4 2400mhz enough for Android studio, using for minimal usage only (Like CRUD, Adding 2 numbers and etc).

My laptop hangs up 15 secs after displaying the emulator, also I did disabled the virtual memory for my ssd as said on forum it might or will destroy the SSD.

I have a Lenovo ideapad 320 14ikb which has :
Ram : 6gb of ram (4gb ram is unremovable, 2 sticks)
CPU : i5-7200u
Storage : 240gb Kingston SSD (Upgraded from 1Tb hdd which is already 66% of health)
Graphics : 940mx GeForce

Don't do that!
Or put it on a HDD, although not one with errors, of course.

Ya, I tried putting a size of 1024 for both minimum and maximum and I can perform android studio well alone, not with google chrome or any apps.

I see virtual memory get tapped even on a 16GB equipped machine.

As to the destroy the SSD, I'm calling that an old wives tale.

Hello Proffitt, I just tried using 1024 minimum and maximum virtual memory, and for few days I haven't getting memory tapped using android alone, but when tried opening chrome with youtube or facebook. The error goes back, do you have any recommended size of memory ?

System managed and no set number. Even if you change this, I have a hunch it's something else. Android Studio is a HEAVY INTENSIVE APP and if your system isn't up to snuff then I see troubles. It doesn't mean anyone can tell you what is wrong but on a good PC with a stock install of Windows and Android Studio it just works. This is why you start from a clean setup.

Or in your case think over what's not stock.
