Question

Android phone won’t connect to internet after factory reset

Jun 4, 2018 5:30PM PDT

I have a motorolo g4. As of a week ago, it stopped connecting to the internet. I know the WiFi password is correct as it will connect, but say no internet is available. Other devices do not have this problem. We have tried forgetting the networks, resetting network settings, resetting the modem, etc. and even ended up doing a factory reset in hopes it would be fixed, but nothing has worked and now I can’t sign in to the "new" phone since it can’t connect to internet. The phone had no problems accessing the internet on public networks, but has trouble getting an IP when a password is needed. Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Answer
It's a common problem.

A lot of unlocked phones after factory reset need you to re-enter your CARRIER APN information. Be sure to read how to SAVE the settings because I watch tech after tech flub the setup. They press the back button without saving the APN information.

How do do u know what your APN is? And where to go from there? Also on the edit access points all my things are set to not set could that be a reason why my internet is not working! I am on a Samsung Galaxy on an older version thanks for the help

I never know my APN settings. I have to...

I'm always looking up the APN information for the carrier when this issue happens.

I just remembered another instance of why the WiFi connects but you get no Internet. A recurring cause is the phone's date and time is too far off.
