But it's not all phones on 9.0 so it appears to be specific to the make or model.
If the web isn't fixing it for you, report it to the phone maker so they get reports on the issue.
Again, not all Android 9 phones are having the issue.
I have 3 droids for work testing; an LG G5, a Google Pixel and an Nokia 7... The Lg G5 is running Android 8.0 Everything I am about to tell you is NOT an issue running version 8 or below.
Both newer phones (Pixel & Nokia), immediately upgraded to Android 9.0
Running Android 9.0 (Pie) is stopping music from playing via my phone or the SD card... whenever the phone locks. Example: If I set the display for 2 mins... I get 2 minutes of music playing... the screen goes to sleep... and 1 minute later the music stops.
The timestamp on the music is 00:00.
If I go back... then forth... the timestamp shows the proper song length and music plays.... until the sleep/hibernate/lock happens
If I set the screen display to 5 minutes... same thing but longer musical playing. 5 minutes of music and display... screen goes dark.... 1 minute later music stops playing. This happens regardless of what settings I use or tweak on the phone. I am pretty Tech Savvy being a Computer programmer for 22 years. And I am really good with droids. But I am officially stumped here.
How could Android do this?
Is there something I am missing?
I have seen numerous threads on other forums about this but most are from streaming... and/or Wi-Fi interruptions. Only 1 post addresses the issue of music stopping even when not streaming such as in my case. It has not been solved.
My music is either on my SD card or my internal phone memory... and this happens constantly.
Note: I even purchased the Nokia just to test Android 9 stopping music, as I wanted to be sure it was not just something with the Google Pixel.
Nope.... It's Android 9.0 - Pie... Killing Music when the phone goes to sleep/hibernates/locks.

Thank You... This I did not know.
I have seen posts on other sites saying.... a new Samsung phone just purchased had 9.0 already installed and it happened to them.. I have a Google Pixel & a Nokia One.... so I thought most major cell phone makers would all have the same problems if running the new Android version...
Do you know what phones are Not having this issue?
I am testing as many phones as I can.
After a little research, found this helpful clip on YouTube about this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgZrw_2u2-w

So I had this issue with Amazon Music playing on my Galaxy S9, it would stop playing about a minute after my phone went to sleep. This is how I fixed it.
This gave me a list of apps.
Selected Amazon Music (from the list of apps)
Inside there at the bottom it has a setting called "Put app to sleep" This is an on/off slider. I turned it off and now Amazon music continues to play after my phone goes to sleep.
Hope this helps!
