Question

Android 6.0 in 2018?

I’m thinking of buying a Sharp Z2, an absolute steal for its price considering how good the specs are. However, it runs on Android 6.0. Is having marshmallow worth it at 2018? How will the UI compare, and am I missing much from the other versions?

You won't know what you are missing

Since you don't have the newer OS to play with. For me it's important since our office writes apps so we have some going back to about 4.2. I'll forego writing what is on the new OS since that's on the web.

Would Sharp Z2 be worth it?

Is having good hardware a better compromise than having the latest version?

For me no.

Because at the office we must be sure our apps work from about 4.2 to today's release.

For some it won't matter but I have yet to see where old OS would beat out shiny new OS on capable models.

Now I am dismissing the sub 99 buck models here.

The reason for the Z2 being a steal is the OS. Regular updates are necessary and even though it might seem irrelevant now, eventually you will realize the gap in the features and the O.S.
