Question

Android 5.1.1....a lot of different opinions

recently bought a (no name) tablet with android 5.1.1 lollipop for my grand-daughter...
i want to put her music and videos on the machine before i give it to her, but OTG/mass storage/USB connection is not available... a quick Google shows a lot of 'experts' with differing opinions...

2 questions, does 5.1.1 allow any of the above?
if not, how do i transfer files to the tablet?

many thanks for any and all help
jonah

oops!
the tablet has:
1 hdmi port
1 mini usb
1 slot for SD card

Answer
It's worse than what you asked.

The OS isn't exactly from Google. What really happens is the tablet maker ports the OS to the tablet and you may or may not have the features you are after.

Since it has a slot for the SD card, why not put files on that?

worst fears confirmed

hi Bob,
i can use the SD card solution for music etc. but as my main intention was to get her used to a keyboard
(last quarter of second grade they get introduced to computers) with no OTG support that idea flew out the window...

oh well...best laid plans of mice and men Sad

thanks Bob

What sort of keyboard?

Here I use a lot of tablets and phones with Bluetooth keyboards. Maybe that will do?

the sort that comes in a case
like this

just did a quick check and find that there is quite a selection of BT keyboards Happy

Bob, you may have just saved the day (and my skin Happy)

thanks again!

Good to read that.

I have such things and they are nice when I need to use my tablet like a small computer.
