An other error message

Aug 4, 2004 4:52PM PDT

I'm trying to connect my computer with Win XP to one with Win 98SE. I've followed the guide on Home Net Help but think I've goofed because when I believe it should be up and running, I get an "Insert Disk" message on the Win 98 machine, asking for the disc labeled Novell Network Dos drive disk [which I don't have]. I must've done something wrong and hope someone can help me out of this!

Apparently you did something wrong (or followed the wrong guide). If you use Netbios or TCP/IP Novell netware shouldn't come up at all. The best thing to do on Windows 98: go to Control Panel>Network and delete everything you added, returning to the old situation. The old situation, might include some logon settings, and TCP/IP for your Internet-connection (dial-up or cable/adsl and nic). It's safe to reinstall the software for your NIC again afterwards.

If things are working again without error messages, make a new post asking for (better) instructions for the network configuration.

Hope this helps.

OK - I think I've got to the point where I've undone everything - so ready for the next step - ie, make a new post asking for [better] instructions for making the network configuration.
Thanks for help so far!!
