I have one and for other PCs my Chrome browser syncs with what I do on my ChromeBook.
-> In the USA you have a right to walk in public without any ID. There are long discussions that right is under attack.
I have a very simplistic idea I would like to get out and have a talk about. It's in my head and just feel the need to talk ya know?
I'm no programmer, and i'm not especially good with anything tech related.
I absolutely hate having all these log ins and passwords to remember. All these account names and email addresses etc etc. What I would like to see is a device that serves as a go between. Something that stores all your information so when you sit down at a computer and go to a website it would know it's you. And when you visit a new website or open up a new app you can just select create new account with my device. Something everyone will want to adopt because it's fast and easy and best of all free.
I was thinking a company like apple or ms would develop a simple bit of software that allows This device to transmit an identity code to a receiving bit of software. This identity code would then be used as a log in or i.d. for what ever is needed. then other companies would download this software and create their own device and use it in their product be it a cellphone or a watch hell even a ring or bracelet.
Perhaps and this would be a stretch to say the least. Governments would be able to use it as an id as well. Get pulled over by a cop do you have your id. Here's my bracelet cop scans it hey presto no more need for a million cards in your wallet. business could use it for their buy one get one free coupons and so much more.
Now I know by now your all screaming about security concerns.... and to be honest that's always going to be an issue. opensource software would only be a means to connect everyone's different systems together nothing more. this device is simply an id a unique id. It makes sense in my head, though I'm having a hard time expressing it.
The security risks are no different with such a device than anything we don't already have so I don't really see the problem, perhaps I'm missing something or there is something I can't see. But to me this device would be a definite quality of life improvement.
