Question

An extra question.

Aug 5, 2016 8:43AM PDT

Hello everyone:

I have a question without place to post/ask, please do me a favor to tell me.

For length: 10'5'=10-feet and 5-inch right?
For time: 5'3"=five-minute and three-second right? if yes, is there a sign for hour?

Thanks!

Clarification Request
The for length looks incorrect.

While the apostrophe is usually for feet, you have that on both the 10 and 5 so I have write that one is incorrect.

For time, that's OK but a writer should avoid them in publishing. As noted at http://www.dailywritingtips.com/prime-marks/

Sorry for mistake!

Actually I meant: For length: 10'5" = 10-foot and 5-inch.
For time: 5'3" = 5-minute and 3-second.

Thanks!

While it's acceptable for short hand notation.

You can imagine that in my technical writings I avoid that for almost the same amount of effort when dealing with time method of using h and s.

So for time, why not 10h 5m 22s?

Degrees, minutes and seconds are for angles and latitudes/longitude. I've never seen the ' and " symbols for time.
