Question

American Date Format

Dec 5, 2012 6:54PM PST

With a mixture of US and European date formats on the Internet, I really dislike being forced to use the US format. How can I set Cnet to use the European format when I access forums? There is nothing in my profile that I can find.

How can I talk directly to Cnet about this?

These are international forums, but they use the American date format, even for logged in members. There's no option to change that.

If there are enough requests like this, they might consider changing it. But for the moment you have to live with it.

I just looked at the CNET UK forums to see if they happen to have an UK date format, but http://www.cnet.co.uk/forums/ tells me those don't exist any more.

Message received. A rather unfriendly and isolationist one, in my view.

Thanks for the feedback Steve...

If we change it to European date format, then Americans will complain--then it becomes one of those things that will never get settled. So since our corporate headquarters are in located in the San Francisco, California, United States --that's what we decided on for the date format and time zone.

I'm not going to promise anything, but if time and date format is such an important feature to all our community members, we will consider it in future enhancements to the forums.

Again, thanks for your feedback Steve.
