I COMPLETELY agree! Slow drivers, and those who have decided that they need to "teach us all a lesson" by driving 65 in the fast lane, are asking to be in an accident. They are unsafe, inconsiderate, and ignorant.
If someone wants to go faster than me, I gladly move over! I guess there are also a lot of people out there who make up for their lackings in other areas by playing games and being rude to others on the road. Trust me, these people will suffer the karma backlash. If not today, then soon.
I think it comes down to pride. There are those of us who have places to go, and who have more experience driving in different environments and in different countries. Then there are the imbeciles who, for reasons only God knows, somehow passed the driving test and have been licensed. To these freaks, driving is something they DESERVE. They have no regard for others, and don't consider it a privelege to drive.
Finally, I'd like to say that the way people drive really is a reflection of the kind of people they are. I'm often behind some huge, dualie, construction truck which is sitting in the fast lane with it's big "Union Yes" sticker on the back. Oblivious to others on the road who wish to pass him, his fat face yapping on his Nextel, he's got chunks of food stuck in his unkempt beard, and he laughs at those who pass him and honk or signal for him to get out of the fast lane. This is a man who is trying to compensate for something. Perhaps he has small bits. Or his wife really wears the pants, so he has to be "in control" of everyone else on the road, since he can't at home. Or maybe he's just fine with the status quo, and is content to be self-absorbed. No matter how you slice it, the way you drive reflects the kind of person you are.
I myself like to cut the B.S., get places quickly and safely, while staying out of the way of others. If we had a system which didn't license every mentally impaired person with a pulse, and actually made it a CHALLENGE to pass the test, we'd have less fatalities and could raise the speed limits - all at the same time.
What a concept....
