AMD vs. Intel

I am looking at laptops and would like to know the best processor to get, AMD or Intel

Dollar for dollar it should be close. AMD seems to lead in value but for work we pick up the i5/i7 and don't pay much more.

If you are pushing the price down to the 200 or less range, you are talking value machines. Tell more about what you are shopping for.

I am looking for a good, fast laptop. I have heard that the i5/i7 are the preferred processors. This will be for home use playing games, e-mail, etc.

AMD and Intel are similar in budget (Low cost ) machines but in high end Intel performs much better.
