AMD Phenom II vs intel Core i7

by jwashbur88 / October 2, 2010 3:27 PM PDT

AMD Phenom II Quad-Core P940 vs intel Core i7 740QM or 720QM

which is better for someone using programs like Photoshop, Autodesk 3dmax, rhino 4.0, and AutoCAD. is the i7 worth $70.00-$120.00 more or would my money be better spent on memory upgrades. for example 4 Gigs to 6 Gigs for about $129.00

Also what your opinion on Toshiba?

hear is a link to the computers I'm considering.

With all there is on the web I don't have to repeat that here. But it is worth noting that i7 laptops, while nice and fast all suffer the hot surface issues. If you must have a cool surface laptop, the i7 and the AMD mentioned is not for you.

I didn't see any note in your post that hot surfaces would be an issue for you.

This one is all about you. If you don't mind a warm or hot palm rest, mouse pad or keyboard then you'll find these fast machines to suit you well.

It's all about you and your feelings and needs.
