Question

AMD or INTEL

Aug 27, 2015 8:14AM PDT

Hi.
I have selected a laptop that meets all my requirements BUT I have always thought that Intel was the only way to go and this one is AMD. I don't know anything about processors really so I would welcome your learned opinions! It is an AMD A10 processor. I believe an i3 or i5 could be within my budget on the Intel side. I will mostly use it for Office, Internet, photo, video/film. Would I be better with an Intel?
Also, the laptop I am looking at is the HP Envy 15-ah000sa. Any thoughts there would also be welcome.
Thanks so much.

You can compare such at comparison sites like

Try CPUBOSS.com and GPUBOSS.COM

The AMD A10 is your better APU solution. The film mention makes me wonder is this is playing or editing. For editing, the Intel may have an edge. Use the CPUBoss. to compare.

Thanks for your reply.
Re film: watching definitely, editing possibly
I probably don't know enough about processors for a compare site to be of any use to me. Hence the vague question here! But thank you for the tip.

CPUBOSS has an overall score.

Why not rank them and forget diving into the details? Just use the overall score to pick the winner.
Note: Edited typo in title.

That's a Processor:
Intel Core i7-5500U 2.4 GHz (Intel Core i7)

you said i3 or i5, so you decide if it's in your budget.
