AMD Athlon X2 w/ AMD CPU update 1.2.2 issue

by SonChaser / April 13, 2006 9:47 AM PDT

I recently installed the AMD CPU ver 1.2.2 update on my Athlon 64 X2 system (GT5032 = Athlon X2 4200+, 1GB RAM, 160 & 250GB HDs, nVIDIA 6600, ATI Theater Pro 550 w/ Win XP MCE 2005). Once I installed this update, the screen would "flicker" for lack of a better word. The screen seemed to actually shift for a brief second (as if the screen was redrawn ~3 inches down and to the right from its normal position). This only occurs during processor activity though. It does not occur while idle, only while starting programs or such. I was able to watch a show I recorded in MCE 2005 w/ little flickering.

After I uninstalled it, it went back to normal. Before uninstalling it, I made sure that the video card was not trying to access a second monitor...but getting rid of the option for a 2nd monitor did not fix the issue. There was no Windows updates to help w/ this issue either. Also the processor update did not fix the MCE 2005 issue as it promised.

First off, is this update something I should worry about, and could I fix this "flickering" issue if I keep this update?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
