Question

AMAZON STREAMING SOFTWARE UPGRADE

Mar 2, 2016 10:38PM PST

WHY is my very expensive 2011 Samsung TV NOT allowing me to play Amazon Streaming Videos? WHY is it just a FEW models? And why was that NOT revealed by Samsung?

I spent over 1,200 on a Samsung LED HD SMART TV: UN46800.

It was a present for my husband. He is retired medical government. He likes to watch movies.

The ONLY way we can watch movies is to link a cable from laptop to TV. The picture is grainy, the computer keeps turning off. It's a mess.

I have tried everything possible, no luck.

FIX IT Samsung, or admit to being withholding. This TV went on sale right before Christmas, great price for what was 'wowed' as the best of the best.

It is not. I cannot afford to buy another TV. I want to watch Amazon movies, and NOT buy a Fire Stick, Rokku, etc.

Do the right thing. Send me a solution.
Thank you.
Alex Howard

If it's "Amazon software" (that's what you say), you should ask Amazon why it doesn't run on this 5 year old TV (from 2011, we're in 2016 now).

If it's Samsung software (which you say it isn't, but just in case) please provide details such as the exact model number of the TV, the app you use to view movies and the version of that app.

No Amazon Prime Accesd with
Samsung Smart TV UN46D8000YF.

This Samsung model does NOT allow access to Amazon Prime. Samsung Model Samsung UN46D8000YF is known for this flaw.

It will NOT allow us to access Amazon Prime. There is NO Amazon icon. There are other icon; ex. YouTube icon, and we can accesd YouTube.

Many attempts to upgrade this Samsung model to access to Amazon Prime failed. I read Samsung will NOT support access to Amazon Prime on this particular TV.

This is a Samsung failing, not Amazon. Other folks with this same Samsung TV h
Have posted same.

Frustrating. Thank you for asking.

Since the software is from Amazon

Then you need to ask Amazon. I'll share i bought the Amazin' Amazon Fire TV box which runs about 90 bucks and it's quite nice.

But if you insist, be sure to ask the company that writes the app in question.

Samsung TV Model does not support Amazon Prime
Mar 4, 2016 11:28PM PST

Thank you for the kind reply. I replied and did not hear anything back.

The problem is with this particular model number of Samsung TV.
Amazon software works on other Samsung models.

But for some strange reason this model is not supported.
It is not Amazon's software.

Samsung will not allow me to log into my Amazon account - so at this point, it isn't even
worth troubling you. If I could afford another TV, I would gladly get one.
The color and quality of the picture is outstanding.

We cannot watch Amazon Prime. That seems to be unsolveable.

Thank you.

The TV's web browser is very limited.
Mar 5, 2016 8:15AM PST

It's not on par with say a very old PC. Folks have found Smart TV browsers to fail on video sites so that's no solution either.

I think you need to see how apps get on Samsung TVs. Here's a graphic from a seminar I attended about this.

As you can see, it's up to the developer to get it done. If Amazon doesn't write the app for this model, well, that's their choice.
