Question

Amazon Prime Video on OLED65E6

Hi has anyone been able to load Amazon Prime Video on the LG OLED TV's?

I can not seem to find an app for it.

Thanks

Answer
Apps are pretty hit and miss.

Smart TVs have nothing to do with say a smart phone. On smart phones we check the app store and you do something similar on your TV but with TVs the pickings can be slim. About all I see is Netflix/Hulu most of the time.

I own the Amazon Fire TV 4K model and would buy again.

LG Support

Thanks. I have had LG Support state that Amazon Video is NOT compatible with the LG TV's, but have found multiple LG images that clearly show Amazon Video app on the screen. Sometimes first level support is not great. Really felt as if LG was just trying to brush me off as they did not know the answer and wanted to close the call.

Anyway, thanks for your input. Will keep researching.

Is it this one?

Geographic Model Number
Nov 29, 2016 2:58PM PST

I left the region part of the model number off as I did not want to have the region number on the model as it could prohibit people finding the posts. Yes my TV is OLED65E6T. LG says the TV is not compatible with Amazon Video due to the technology. I can not imagine that the models are technically different, but more geoblocked.

Amazon Prime Video is now available in Australia, so why not have the app available considering that this same TV in a different region can 'technically' show Amazon Video. What these posts were about was trying to determine if LG OLED TV can actually run Amazon Video.

Why do that?

If the model T isn't on the list, it's not on the list. You need to use your power of returning it to show your displeasure.

I'll bite my tongue here but next time, don't do that.

Technologically incompatible vs GeoBlocking
Nov 29, 2016 3:42PM PST

The message from LG was that Amazon Video is not compatible with LG TV's. With no future plans to change that. Hence my question about if anyone can get Amazon Video on the LG OLED TV's. Region model was not as important at this stage.

The TV does not even let you change your country to USA to even download the Amazon app.

After raising this with LG Support further, they now tell me that it is coming, but no timeframe as to when.

Thanks for everyone's help with this matter, very much appreciated.

Steve

Since it's about geoblocking, getting around that
Nov 29, 2016 4:07PM PST

You are risking a lock on the discussion. The forum forbids getting around such systems.

And while there are forums that will discuss this, this one is hosted by CBS so please stop asking to get around the geoblock.

You already know what's going on here. Why not return it before you are stuck and unhappy?

Amazon Prime in SF, CA...

Windrider, just installed a new OLED65B6P here in the San Francisco, CA, area and my Amazon Prime works GREAT!!
I'm still attempting to pair a Bluetooth mouse with the TV...
Hope for a software upgrade for AU, I guess...
Enjoy your picture, even without Amazon, best seat in town!
