Am. Sniper & M. Moore

Jan 19, 2015 6:09AM PST

What an idiot, but that's me speaking aloud, very aloud.

M. Moore states that snipers are "cowards" and yada, yada. Wooo, doesn't he know what modern warfare or the type of warfare that has to carried out by US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan provided the real need for snipers. The terrorist or the "enemy" had found out in order to stay alive longer they needed to shoot from long range if not to harness but get lucky sometimes. Sniper and spotter provide the answer to hit elusive enemy that hides and/or uses to their advantage, distance and hit&run tactics. No matter the city or mountains, snipers have provided a well found answer, "get some" and make it stay hurt. Typical sniper tactics when left as is are meant to be left alone out in the bush or rumble, but enemy eyes are everywhere and they see snipers are lurking. This has caused snipers to become part of the fire team or squad on patrols. They have the reach and talent to knock down enemy or provide cover fire.

I leave it at that, because leaving M. Moore to continue any social media yak has already proven he's more knowledgeable about the polyps in his bum than any modern military required tactics. -----Willy Wink

He should always be aware of a one mile area around him.

so IED's would be a real issue for him........and with a girth and a face that big, I doubt he could see a mile around him either. He looks like one of my hogs with glasses.

IEDs nasty stuff

I read in a book about USMC Bat. 3/5 that was on tour in Afghanistan the amount of IEDs present. These were so common that the enemy was shot on any indication of doing so. Further, some of the troops were very lucky as they encountered poorly made IEDs due to haste, weather or improper setup, these were considered "soft explosions" that may only lose a foot or just air blast the area causing ringing in ears or trauma to head. They shake it off and continue on. What surprises, that could happen multiple times if not directly then the immediate troops around, they provide aid or brush it off and continue on. In some cases as many as 3-4x on a tour. That makes me shutter at the thought. -----Willy Happy
