Am I losing diskspace too quickly?

by becca73 / July 7, 2004 11:55 AM PDT

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with XP
and I usually keep about 85%--90% free
diskspace. I realize that everyday usage
and the addition of new programs cuts down on
diskspace; and I regularly clear unnecessary files
(temp., cookies, recycle bin, etc.); BUT, the other
day, I installed a windows xp update, had some
major problems with it and removed it, using the
Add/Remove Programs feature. Here's the problem:
I went from 85% free space on drive C, to 79%...
So, I restored to a few days earlier. It took about
30 minutes to restore; whereas, it usually takes about
3 to 5 minutes, AND, I was down to 75% free space!
Is that normal? I defragmented, and ran the disk cleanup. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this normal? Thanks for any help:-)

I may have answered my own question, because
I removed all past restore points except the
most recent, now I'm back up to 88% free space.
My computer has 32.86 GB of free space now.
(Capacity is 37.26 GB) I have 512 MB of RAM.
I din't want to lose the restore points, but...oh well.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
