If that was mine I would first use system restore to yesterday. If that fails I might consider installing the machines drivers again. You didn't supply the model so I was not able to see if these are at gateway.com
Think about how we have to install drivers after windows. Some are only learning this today since restore media does this for us. If we use the newer Windows 7 it does a fair job at drivers but we often find we have to install the motherboard chipset then audio and video drivers.
If this was mine, system restore first, then treat it like it was a new install and install the drivers in order.
As to the ! and troubleshooting, the results I get are 50/50. Let's say it is far from reliable.

My laptop is pretty old, 3 years I belive, I have a Gateway something with Windows 7 installed, but tonight after I tried restoring my iphone my usb ports stopped working so I rebooted my computer, next thing I know my mouse doesnt work either, the sound doesnt work, and I cant connect to my wifi either. I go to device manager and all those drivers have the "!" box next to them, and so I tried troubleshooting and nothing worked ![]()
Ive been on this for almost a few hours with a very busy day ahead of me tomorrow, and its almost 2am here and Im pulling out my hair.
Any ideas? All help is extremely appreciated ![]()
