All web page images do not load

Dec 10, 2006 7:05AM PST

Win XP & IE7 Fully updated.

This problem is mostly just dam irratating and I've had enough. And looking for a good aa-haa from one or many.

If I go to, for instance;
http://theimpulsecompany.com/products/10_seasonal/124_Christmas_0 The text loads but the images do not (well a few may but not all and sometimes one or two will pop further down. It takes jumping through a few hoops to get it to load all the images. Typically the hoops include d-clicking an image link then clicking "show image on the that page, casue it dosen't show either) and then hitting the back button. Sometimes that works sometimes not. This is mostly on my PC. Other PC's don't seem to have the problem though I did runn accross one. In addition it will happen on most sites that display a lot of images.

One last bit. I live in the boonies and use a satellite dish connection. (roughly the speed of DSL)

Give it your best shot and thanks in advance.

Norton in the crosshairs...
Dec 10, 2006 12:14PM PST

That rings true as Norton Internet Security's MO, so it's the first thing I would consider. I would start by temporarily disabling the privacy and parental control features, then looking through the firewall settings to ensure there are no additional image blocking settings. It's possible it's a glitch in IE7 (you can roll back to IE6 by uninstalling Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 in Add/Remove Programs), but I'd bet on Norton being the scource of your frustrations.

This was elminated during a recent reinstall of Norton IS (not there at all). As for IE 7 other systems work. Thanks for your post. Still looking for the "aah-haa."

Does the problem occur in other browsers?

Try loading the same page in Firefox or Opera and see if there is any change.

Also, try running the free online internet performance test at pcpitstop.com. (No registration is required.) Let us know what your actual connection speeds are as well as the ping latency.

Same problem with Firefox.

No point in running preformance testing until the storm is over. I'll be back

Thanks for the suggestions. I have resolved the mystery or at least MS did. It appears I've been using a beta release of IE 7. With the latest update my version moved from
IE: 7.0.5450.4 to IE: 7.0.5730.11. This update seems to have made the issue vanish. So, tuck that away for the next person with like woes.
