That audio glitch
Feb 17, 2015 5:25AM PST

Is a clue about heat or other than video driver issues. Since all we have is this video and no make and model there's only a few cures. Do the scheduled cleaning first, then if that doesn't nail it, restore it to factory condition. If that fails it's likely a hardware issue like failing HDD or other.

Again, details matter. Some machines glitch like that when USB HDDs are plugged in. Unplug, retest.

Make and model

It's a Dell XPS 17 L702x and a GeForce GT550M . It is heating up quite a bit and I am planning to change the heatsink and the fan. But could that really be it? It's been like that for some time now and has never been a problem, I can play games without any problems.

Why change the heatsink?

I've yet to see one wear out. I do the canned air so often as most laptop owners treat the laptops like bricks. At about 3 or 4 years or if the machine seems to need it, I'd do the deep clean and apply new compound.

Are you reporting you never did the canned air over it's last 3 years of life?
