I went through the CNET checklist: it yielded 65 choices. I really don't want to have to go through every one to, maybe, find a printer that does what I need a printer to do.

Here's what I want from a non-fax all-in-one:

1. Scan film negatives (color and B&W) and color slides.

2. Reduce images to at least 25 percent of original. (Preference: keypad to input numbers for doing reductions and enlargements)

3. Print on larger paper (legal, ledger)

4. High accuracy of color matching when scanning then printing original images from print images (color separated) or original art (paint, pastels, color pencil, markers, fabric).

5. Completely flat scanner bed so that oversized paper and such can be laid out to avoid distortion in scanned images and the original don't risk getting creased or bent.

Does such a peripheral exit? -- or even close? I shall wait with great anticipation the revelation of the goal of my quest.
