Reset Windows 10 from the settings app. That should make it totally new, deleting all existing programs.
If that doesn't work (you seem to write that) download a totally new version from https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 and install that.
Then make the account of your brother a standard account in stead of administrator, and he can't install anything anymore. Make 2 administrator accounts for yourself, one for normal use, and one spare in case the normal one gets corrupted.
please help me, i’ve tried everything i can and i keep looking things up but i’m pretty young so i cant understand much. Basically, my brother and i have had a computer for approx 8 years and in that span we’ve downloaded a fair share of viruses. i think around 2 years ago we had all our viruses wiped away and the system was as good as new. But now, it’s worse than ever as my brother keeps downloading things and installing more and more viruses without realizing what they’re doing.
First, google chrome deleted itself and refused to redownload from microsoft edge. Later, chrominium (or is it chromium? i’m not sure) appeared on our computer. obviously it was maleware along with a bunch of others stored onto my computer. so lately i got to working and deleted a fair share of the maleware from task manager and deleted any apps on the computer that had pop-ups and would slow the computer down. I assumed all was well but i still couldn’t download google chrome. yes, it would download and we could access the instal agent but if we tried clicking on it the computer wouldn’t respond. i didn’t think much of it since we still had microsoft edge which is more than capable to run whatever games he was playing.
a month later and he tells me something’s wrong with the computer again, so i go to see what happened and so much had changed. i’m guessing he installed MORE risky apps without me knowing and infected our computer AGAIN. microsoft edge had deleted itself and we had about three different enternet explorers. when i checked the task manager oh boy was i angry. there was so much more maleware! and some new, odd web browser installed itself onto our computer. it looks just like chrome when you open it but it doesn’t function as well. some maleware won’t let me delete it since it’s in the system 32 folder and says i need administrator rights even though i’m the administrator. those are the ones that i had given hope on. they just won’t delete even if i change the file’s administrator to my account. others say i need access from “trusted installer.” i know how to get passed this, but my issue is that there are so many dll’s and files in the system 32 folder that all need access from trusted installer, meaning i need to go into each one separately and give myself administrator rights. there’s gotta be at least 500 files like this. god knows where they came from.
I also cannot formally reboot my computer. when i press shift and click on restart, it will give me a black screen as if the computer is getting ready to give me the options it should, pauses for a minute, then just resets. i cant reboot it manually from settings either because whenever i press any form of “factory reset” the system will not respond. I want to reset my hard drive but when i looked things up online it said i need to download something. you can guess my problem there. I just want to know how to get my web browsers back and if cleaning out the hard drive would ruin my computer for good.
can i just wipe the hard drive and start fresh? with no viruses? or is that not possible? would i need some type of backup of windows ten & system 32 or it won’t work? i don’t want to back up any files since i don’t have anything important on it. i just want the maleware gone and the web browsers back as if i just bought my computer. some people suggested malewarebytes but i cant even download it! it’s so frustrating. can someone please help me? i would be so thankful. but please bare with me, i’m only 15 and i get really confused when it comes to things like this. but then again, anything helps.
