While it's a fine laptop, what you do points to more common crypto mining setups. My office set me up with a run of mill Acer Predator for less than yours. For mining that would leave budget for some old desktop (free!) and some GPU for mining. That would be best.
I'm in the market for an Alienware laptop and have been reading various reviews online (mostly positive, like this review) to see if it might be worth the hefty price tag. Although I play games now and then (probably around once a week) I also need it for business (use a lot of excel and maintain multiple web applications open at the same time). In addition, I do some cryptocurrency mining on my laptop so that takes a lot of memory . So to keep things simple: is the Alienware 17 R4 laptop a good pick for all these memory intensive tasks? If not, please let me know what other Alienware alternatives are there (want to stick with Alienware brand for now).
