Alien Ware or Mac?

by Ironmen360 / April 20, 2007 3:48 PM PDT

I am going off to college this year and am allowed to get a laptop as long as it is around 1500 but I can pay up to 500 or so. I want somthing light that I can carry back and forth from school to home but also want to play games with my spare time like counter strike and Half Life. The Alienware m5550 fits perfectlly with what I need for school and free time but I have heard numerous complaints about there customer service. Then there is the black MacBook which fits every thing but my gaming asspect? Or at least from what I read it does not handle FPS very well. Are there any other laptops I should be looking at out there or should I stick with the alienware and risk the bad customer service? Thank you for any and all help Ryan.

Which laptop maker is known to support their product?

This should polarize the view since in these and other forums it's revealed that Alienware failed to repair one year machines due to a lack of parts. Furthermore they didn't exchange the units. They failed miserably in the support area to the point that for the foreseeable future I can't give the make any good words.

Odd comparison.

If you like Mac OSX, then MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops are a good suggestion. If you prefer Windows, I do not recommend Alienware. Try looking at Dell, HP or ASUS.

Lenovo, Samsung, Clevo and Sony also make better laptops than Alienware kind of. I think Clevo makes one of the Alienware laptops, which also goes by a million other names depending on which company is selling it.

Clevo makes some of the Alienware models but not all

Clevo is an ODM and Alienware is an OEM. Alienware was purchased by Dell but I don't think they will change much.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
