Alexa is not the official page rank assigner to your website then why do SEO people rely on that?

Because it gives us a good idea about the traffic the website is getting , gives the list of top backlinks and keywords the website is strong with in google search engine. I personally take alexa into consideration for my SEO clients and it has helped me alot.
In SEO industry, no tool can give you exact figure of website performance or no tool can you the accurate stats of any website. As each tool has its own way of measuring website data. So some tool may emphasis on traffic stats or other tool may emphasis on backlinks data. So some tool are best at giving almost right number of backlinks or some are best at providing traffic stats.
Same is the case with Alexa, they do provide close to perfect number of traffic stats but I am not sure about their backlinks count and other data.
An SEO expert always go through different tools to reach accuracy of data collection.
Most People thinks alexa rank is help to increase our website rank,i think that is true,it point out our website errors and appropriate our website ranking...
Thanks for your replies, even iam also unsure about their quality link count, so at last i came to know it is better to check with other tools too along with Alexa.
