I didn't think a Prius could go 100 mph! Must have been downhill.

just pointing out an important fact that you neglected to mention.
In the Libby case the fellow is not guilty because you say so? Where are the facts there? We had a recent discussion where judicial "mistakes" were "regrettable" but the state bore no responsibility. Lets just agree to view Libby as a "mistake" for convenience sake. It's not like he has to do the time or pay the fine now anyway, and we all think he will be pardoned at the end of the 18 months.
The viagra case was just foolish, vain stupidity on that fellows part. But it was drugs that were involved and there was no prescription. Why should a man who called for zero tolerance when it comes to drug abuse be shown... tolerance? I detest a double standard.
Look, each side has their favorites. Me, I could care less when it comes to drugs and criminal sentencing unless the crime involves violence or danger to others. I'm more concerned about treatment and future prevention.
So why are you asking me?
Try reading a thread before posting.
You mention Libby in a thread on Gore's kid,
then you say you didn't! That's quite a feat!
Reread the thread. Even Ed points out that JP was the one who mentioned him first.
YOU did! Contrived? That gives the word new meaning.
I suggest that you follow your own advice. Reread the thread.
ROTFLMA!
that a prosecutor can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich. Libby "lied" about when he didn't do something he was not charged with doing. Anyone who talks to the Feds can be charged with something at the whim of the prosecutor and a jury can always be fooled.
It was purely political, as you probably know. It is my opinion that he was innocent, and the victim of a witch hunt. Hope he gets a pardon.
I do believe if you look back on that Viagra case you will find that the DA or Sheriff or whoever involved, admitted that no crime was committed. I distinctly remember that at the time I suggested that those who hysterically claimed it was a crime should apologize.
Them's the facts.
You imply in your subject line that I don't always look at the facts. I do.
... statements made by "DA or Sheriff or whoever involved"... (whoever?)... could be considered facts of stated opinion if they are on the public record. It's just that when you are the DA or the Sheriff then your opinion is the one which counts. ![]()
The "prosecutor" and "grand Jury" discourse is an indictment of the legal system but not necessarily "fact" as you put it. If true then every legal decision ever made under this system should be called into question. Is that what you are saying? That every prosecution made by the Grand Jury system is questionable?
No. What I said was what I am saying. It is quite clear. No need to muddy the waters.
No more. Bye.
As long as a bigwhig Democrat's kid is doing it.
Interesting MODERATE view on life.
You infer I said it, now prove it.
What's that? You can't.
So why the flame KP?
Politician's kids partying is not.
What ever happens let us hope the kid gets his life straightened out. At 24 he is getting a bit too old for this kind of behavior to be written off as youthful indiscretion.
from topping it out.

Maybe the extra "cargo" slowed him down.
Use drugs while recklessly driving a car. Kind of like flashing an arrest me sign on the car's roof.
....if you have a drug problem.
Driving too slowly is also a red flag for impaired drivers by the way. It's called overcompensating. That's what Bush was doing when he was arrested for DUI. ![]()
... and often vacationed in Kennebunkport in the 60's and 70's. They have an interesting, eye witness story to tell about a certain restaurant bar patron and his arrival, extended patronage, and departure. I've heard the story several times and the details stayed the same so I assume it was fairly accurate. Let's leave it with "Dad" had to drive the car home... but he didn't drive the car there.
What happened to "looking at the facts"?
Just wondering.
By the way, note that if it was Teddy Kennedy he would have been driving BOTH ways.
As for the other bit? It's anecdotal but it does illustrate the point that one can deal with these issues on a case by case basis... but if one begins to claim nepotism or special treatment as an unfair advantage then one should remember that it isn't just right or left that commits such acts.
What was it you said the other day? He who is without sin...?
Consistency in committing such acts is extremely serious and increases risk of harm to others but doing drugs and driving even once can be just as risky. Let's treat each one of these cases seriously but let's not kid ourselves and pretend that people on both sides of the political spectrum haven't benefitted from their connections.
