Airport Extreme ans Arris Modem from Comcast

by baxter-md / May 24, 2007 1:06 PM PDT

I'm having problems getting my AirPort Extreme to work with my Arris Modem (Model TM502G). I previously had the airport connected to a DSL modem.

I'm guessing something needs to be reset with the airport, but have no idea what.

Anyone have any ideas?

Airport and Arris Modems
by kdatcwmlc / September 18, 2009 1:05 PM PDT

I had the same problem noted here. Signed up with Comcast for speed and lower cost and got both along with the worst service on the planet. Fortuanatley I was able to get it to work after three techs (two of which had trouble speaking english) at comcast failed to help me. I reset the modem via the reset button in the back, and via the techs at comcast and via removing the battery, and via removing the power cord and battery for 15 minutes all failed to work. Finally I went into the airport utility (applications-Utilities-airport---on a mac and start-all programs-airport on a PC. I reset the airport to factory settings then then entered new settings (set to WPA and DCHP when asked) and then reset the modem again and it worked. Hope it works for you.

Usual routine, when changing providers,
by mrmacfixit Forum moderator / September 19, 2009 12:04 AM PDT

is to unplug the power from the modem.
Reset the Airport to its default settings.
Fire up the modem and when it is on-line and ready
Fire up the Airport.
Use Airport Utility to configure the Airport and you should be good to go

Not surprising

The router settings for DSL and cable are different. By resetting the router, it's probably going to be returned to its default settings which generally are correct for use with a cable modem.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
