Since I had no response to my request, but did find out the solution I would like to post it here. Once the Airport Base Station is setup the outside IP address is the one from my Mac desktop computer. My desktop computer and laptop computer, that is both the LAN and the wireless networks, have their own IP addresses of 10.0.1.x. In order to make my desktop computer accessible from the Internet, I go into the Airport Administration Utility, then to Port Mapping, and enter mapping for port 80 (http) and port 554 (rtsp). The setup is as follows: Public Port = 80, Private IP Address (10.0.1.3-my desktop computer) and Private Port = 80. I do the same thing with port 554 using the same private IP address. When the outside IP is accessed the request goes directly to my desktop computer?the HREF does not need to change?just direct to outside IP address.
Hello everyone,
I would like to find out where I can get information regarding setting up the airport extreme base station that allows me to access a streaming server on my desktop computer. My Darwin Streaming Server is on a Mac desktop 450mHZ computer. The airport extreme base station is set up as follows:
That Ethernet cable from my cable modem is in the WAN port, my computer Desktop is connected to the airport base station via an Ethernet cable to the LAN port. My laptop computer is on a wireless network created by the base station. My problem is that I cannot access my streaming server from the Internet (my ISP provides a static IP address with DCHP, but the base station acts as a firewall from the Internet). I was unable to find any information in the manual about making my LAN desktop computer?s IP address accessible from the Internet. When I do a ?ping? it works for the IP address of the base station, but not the computer?s IP address.
When I use the ?airport setup assistant?, it takes the static IP address from my desktop computer (computer= 123.234.456.25 and airport = 123.234.456.1). I am sure there must be a way the IP address of my desktop computer can pass through the airport base station for Internet access. The streaming server provides a QuickTime streaming movie via RTSP through port 80 or port 554. (RTSP://67.168.205.69/chronicpain.mov)
Any help or the location of specific information on setting up the Airport Extreme base station would be greatly appreciated.
