Airport Express problem.

Feb 6, 2006 2:15AM PST

I've had a bunch of problems with my airport express... it works for streaming music and as a wireless node, but I can't get it to interface with my router wirelessly (not a problem... it sits near my stereo and it works when connected with a Cat5), but now I can not for the life of me get it to print through my USB printer.

I am printing to a PSC 1210 all in one.

I have tried this fix, which solved the problem it says, (now the printer does have the correct driver assigned to it) but it still does not print. I am out of ideas. Any suggestions?

David

I'm confused.

I read your post twice and have no idea how I would connect an airport to print on a printer. I didn't know this unit could print.

Something doesn't make sense.

But does "it" print?
Feb 6, 2006 2:45AM PST

I read the words twice and "it" in this case is the Airport. I have yet to find a router that "prints" so the description of this configuration seems to lack some PC or Mac and how things are connected.

It's worth noting that some printers will never print wirelessly. Hint? Drivers.

Airport

"It" is the airport.

My computer is hardwired to the router, the router to the airport, and the airport to the printer. (I have tried it with other computers that are connected to the router wirelessly)

That may never work. From memory...

The airport has to be the router in order to provide printing services. But I could be wrong.

And your last reply does clear up how you connected this system.

shoot.

Well, that's a bummer, but it would explain it. They don't really mention that in the manual, but they don't address it either. I may have to go all wireless, though I don't think the airport has the same security software as my router. I'll figure something out.

It seems its not the Airport express problem.

more likely you mis configured it..

If you already an accespoint, then Airport express can function as repeater/expander (Wirelessly)

But if it function as the Accesspoint, then it must be connected to the router (Hardwired)

As for the printer, where it connected to? To the computer, To the router or to the AirportExpress??

and also, you need to disable the DHCP on one of them (Router or Airport express), beside you need to configure the airport express IP too.

It is hardwired now.

>>As for the printer, where it connected to? To the computer, To the router or to the AirportExpress??

It is connected via USB to the airport

>>and also, you need to disable the DHCP on one of them (Router or Airport express), beside you need to configure the airport express IP too.

Why? Which one? and how do I do this?

Thanks!

I think it should be able to share printer
Feb 6, 2006 3:23AM PST

because it is only have one RJ45 port, and the manual said that you can share a printer ..

as for the DHCP configuration.

Your router and the Airport express have a capability to assign IP (DHCP) so need to disable the one in the airport express (because it conected to the router)

the configuration is a web based .. look it up in the manual what is the address....

also in the manual, there is a setup guide for printing.

I also found this

I was able to print working by routing the printer to the port assigned by the router instead of the airport. But, alas, it already has stopped working. Oh well.
