that came with the machine.
If not, get them as they are no go to the original owner.
Once you have them, start the machine up from the Restore disk and perform an Erase and Install.
This will remove everything from the hard drive and replace it with new stuff. Once finished, the machine will be just like it was when the box was first opened.
Hopefully that will get rid of your Airport problem and will firmly establish the computer as yours.
Meanwhile, it could be that you are entering the password for your wireless network, incorrectly. Depending on how your wireless is set up, it could need a "$" sign before the actual password.
If that fails, turn off the security and try to connect then. If you connect without the security turned on, then the problem is not with the Airport itself but with something in your settings.
Let us know what you decided and how it turns out

Hi, my friend has just sold me his 1yr old MacBook Pro and obviously cleared it of all his stuff, however I now can't get it to connect to my internet at home. It just says 'connection timeout' when I enter the password and it also says it had no IP address?? Then when I looked in the Network window of System Preferences it says 'Self-assigned IP' under Aiport with an amber instead of green light. I have never seen this IP issue on Macs I have had before so am presuming this is the problem. I know nothing about this sort off thing so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Emily.
