I downloaded AIM Triton, and started getting virus and spy warnings. Trojans and all sorts of lovely things. I made Triton go away so fast it was crazy. I have DSL and the connection slowed to a crawl. I started my SpySweeper, and it went from a 12 minute scan time to 35 minutes. I no longer have AIM on my computer.
I have just downloaded the new AIM Triton, but I'm pretty sure the problem doesn't lie within the program itself since I was experiencing the same issue with earlier versions of AIM. To put it simply I am having connection problems. In the older versions, I would randomly, after some time, get signed off and it would display "Connection Lost". It always happned when I was away. I would come back and it would be signed off. On Triton, it just basically signs off, with no error message and every now and then the program closes all together. There are a couple of things that I noticed that might be the reason behind my problem. First, when I return to the computer, it always displays a "Wireless Network is Now Connected" but it doesn't lose the connection at all. If you go into the properties and duration, it would have been connected for days. The second thing I noticed was in the Administrative Tools under Events, there are two numerously logged events, "TCPIP has detected that the network adapter is connected to the network and has initiated normal operation" and "TCPIP has detected the network adapter is not connected and has released the connectoin", usually moments after eachother. The third thing is that if I disable Norton Internet Security and then reenable it, that will immediately cause AIM to disconnect. So I think the solution lies within one of those three things. Any help is appreciated. I have Windows XP and DSL connection.
