AIM Please stay away..!

When I START-RUN-MSCONFIG-STARTUP and then check the box to disable AIM it shuts it down but after a few times turning the PC off/on AIM reappears at bootup. I don't want 'on' it unless I turn it on manually...! Any ideas why it has a mind of it's own?

Thanks for any ideas on how to make AIM pay attention when I speak (my kids do!)......
