Do you have the .ISOs or CDs?
May 23, 2006 5:14AM PDT

Many confuse the 2 and I get confused since if you had the CDs you wouldn't need the ISO writing program.

However, CDBURNERXP has a write ISO feature and it's free. Try that if you need to go from .ISO to CD.

Next BOOT that CD1 and see if it offers to repartion. I will not research if it does since just a boot away is the answer.

Yes, it will give partition choices.

Either "Auto" or "Manual". To keep from messing up the Windows partition, at least some idea of what you are doing is in order. I partition before installing Windows(or as I install XP). That way, leaving a Linux partition (or unformatted space)nothing is changed unless successful and installing a bootloader/MBR. More info about what his exact hard drive setup would get better help. chuck

Not sure what you're asking

If you have the 3 community release cd's, then just boot with the first disk. It is a very easy setup. Since you are inexperienced, use the automatic feature.

If you prefer, tell more about your hard drive(s) and partition(s)and we can walk you through an installation.

By the way, you should really get Mandriva 2006 community realease. Mandy 10 is rather dated. If you have a newer computer with sata rather than ide, you will not get 10 installed without major fiddling.

Since SUSE linux is now part of Novell...

Maybe getting Suse maybe the best way of getting XGL. I am not absolutely certain about it though.

Included rpm

Mandriva has included their version of this particular package for a long time. I have never had to compile it. (Since version 6.0)I think open gl needs to be configured with your video card.
