AGP Status: Unavailable

Feb 25, 2004 12:33PM PST

I'm not sure if this is the correct area for posting this, but when i run a directX diagnostic, it gives me the following lines-

DDraw Status: Enabled
D3D Status: Enabled
AGP Status: Not Available

i've been told by many people that i need to make the AGP Status enabled, which i'm not sure how to do exactly. If anyone knows, please help!

I could debate whether that's true since all DirectX features are rarely supported and games still play.

If this is to be solved, the MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS would be installed as well as WHQL Video Drivers.

Do share what the issue is that has you looking at this.

I've got WHQL video drivers installed (http://www.nvidia.com/object/pc_winxp-2k_53.04.html), and i've attempted to install the motherboard drivers. I was recommended to download the Intel 82800 Series Drivers from ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/6934/eng/infinst_enu.exe based on the msinfo32 and dxdiag reports i had given the community. The installation works up untill 45% into the installation and quits, and goes to the desktop. I've visited dells' site and downloaded the same installation program there, and it also does the same.

The reason i'm looking into this is because the online game that I play, Everquest, has become very unstable, and people have really recomended getting the AGP Status to be enabled. I've been through a lot of support from the EQ tech, I'm waiting on a reply from them now.

Why I chose the subject. Many ask about this or that and it's rough to find the why we are looking into this or that. If I were to continue along this path, a look at the EVENT VIEWER would be needed. My method is:
1. Clear all events from the EVENT VIEWER (all three areas.)
2. Let the error occur.
3. Check the event viewer.
4. Research the FAILURE items in the EVENT VIEWER.

It's very important to know how to distinguish informational messages from failures.

In closing, others have chased the never-ending issue of internet ping-times, and internet reliability issues that have nothing to do with your machine. Be sure your issue is not "the internet."
