AGHHHH!My cd-rom won't instal anything now!

Oct 2, 2004 7:20PM PDT

Ok,i have like the most &%@$iest cd-rom in the world, but i was trying to instal a game and everything was going the way it should of been until it got near the end.The installation froze up and i ended up ejecting the cd-rom then pushing it back in,but then it gave me cannot continue installation cause it is corrupt and all that nonsense.I cancelled it,and deleted everything that is related to the game, but now whenever i try installing something,it just won't do it.I can get the autorun screens, but installation of anything won't work,i have used different cd's all came back the same.
I don't think this will be something that i will be able to fix on my own,so plz help.

If you haven't already, cleanout the CD drive. Use a lens cleaner and also blow it out, before considering pitching it. Its not uncommon for a CD drive to fail and it will sooner or later. You can deinstall it and reinstall it as well before the final pitch. Buying a new onw is the best solution if nothing seems to fix it. -----Willy Happy

I've had a number of cd roms do similar and then work fine after disabling the dma function in the drives properties.
