My rule of thumb on supplies is +/- 5%. In the case of your battery you won't be stressing the battery since it's rated to be charged to ... only 0.2 Volts higher.
What can I write? How about "it will be fine."
Tip: FOLLOW THAT FIRST TIME CHARGE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. If it asks you to charge it 8 hours or overnight please do so to get the best life out of your new battery.

I'm trying to buy a replacement battery for my JVC GZ-MC100 video camera.
The spec is for 7.2V 800mAh Li-ion.
The battery I ordered from Ebay was listed with the proper spec but when it arrived I noticed that it was a 7.4V 1400mAh. I noticed this AFTER I put it in the camera and turned it on.
I quickly turned the camera off and removed the battery.
I went back and did another eBay search to find mixture of 7.2V and 7.4V replacement batteries claiming to be compatible with my camera.
Is the 7.4V battery safe for use or should I chuck it and try again? I don't want to explode my new camera.
I emailed the seller to see if a mistake has been made.
Moral to the story is to be careful when buying aftermarket batteries.
